HEATING AND COOLING
AirXcel Heat Pumps
Your coach has three 15,000 BTU h
eat pump
units mounted
on the roof
which
serve two functions:
--
to cool the air in your coach (air conditioning
),
--
to heat the air in your coach
(heat pump)
.
REMINDER
Your coach
has two heating sources:
1.
The Aqua-Hot Heating System which in turn gets it heating
ability from either the electric element, diesel boiler or engine,
(
when running
), and
2.
The three heat pumps mounted on your roof.
Heat pumps work by exchanging heat with the air surrounding the
unit.
• In summer, the air conditioner transfers heat from the air inside
the coach to the outside air, thus cooling the coach.
• In winter, the heat pump function transfers heat from the outside
air to the inside air of the coach thus heating the coach.
Heat pumps only work well when the outside air temperature is
above 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Your coach needs the Aqua-Hot system to provide a second
source of heat.
NOTE
All three heat pumps are connected to the same continuous air
supply duct that runs between the ceiling and the roof of the coach.
The vents closest to the location of the roof heat pump will
discharge the most air but some air is still likely to come out of the
other vents.
See
Heating and Cooling
on page 100 for controlling the
temperature in your coach.
