power
supply
on
an
antistatic
surface
or
in
an
antistatic
bag
for
future
use.
Powering up the S8 Chassis
To
power
up
the
S8
chassis
with
S
‐
AC
‐
PS
power
supplies:
1.
Plug
one
end
of
each
power
cord
(supplied
with
the
power
supply)
into
the
AC
power
socket
on
the
front
panel
of
the
power
supplies.
2.
Plug
each
of
the
power
cords
into
separate
dedicated
20 A/120 Vac
receptacles.
3.
Ensure
that
the
Power
LED
on
each
power
supply
is
green.
4.
Ensure
that
all
fans
in
the
fan
tray
unit
are
operating
properly
when
power
is
received
from
the
power
supplies
(fan
tray
LED
will
be
green).

Removing and Installing a Fan Tray
The
S8
chassis
is
equipped
at
the
factory
with
two
removable
fan
trays,
in
the
upper
and
lower
fan
slots,
that
allow
for
easy
periodic
cleaning
and/or
replacement
if
a
problem
occurs
with
fan
operation.
Removing a Fan Tray
To
remove
a
fan
tray:
1.
Attach
the
anti
‐
static
wrist
strap
as
described
in
before
handling
the
fan
tray.
2.
Loosen
the
captive
screws
located
at
the
top
and
bottom
of
the
fan
tray.
Caution:
If you plan to operate the chassis with only one power supply, make sure to install the
coverplate in place of the removed power supply to reduce Electromagnetic Interference.

Note:
If multiple power supplies are installed, repeat the following procedure for each supply.
For redundancy using multiple S-AC-PS power supplies, each of the power cords from the power
supplies must be connected to dedicated 20 A AC power circuits.
Caution:
The fan assembly is hot-swappable. However, do not run the chassis for any extended
periods of time without an operating fan assembly, as the chassis will quickly overheat and cause
damage.
