Description of the sequence chain when the system starts up ([Start] key):
1 – the pressure panel goes down.
2 – the filter paper is fed for a distance equivalent to one step, and is put in place under the filter-
holder.
3 – the source holder cylinder is placed in « sampling » position.
4 – the pressure panel is placed in high position, under the filter, in order to guarantee the tightness
between the pressure panel and the sampling conduit.
5 – the pump starts into « Drying paper » mode: this mode is programmed for 2 mn duration (see
diagram 1 below).
6 – the Geiger Muller counter passes into pre-heating: the « Geiger pre-heating » message is displayed
(see diagram 2 below).
7 – the pump stops.
8 – the source-holder cylinder gets into the « Measurement » position: the « Blank counting »
message is displayed (see diagram 3 below), it means that the blank is being counted. The other
measurement messages displayed are the following: the time countdown for the current blank, the
supply voltage of the Geiger counter, the counting stated in count per seconds (cp/s).
9 – at the end of the « Blank counting », the source holder cylinder is placed again into sampling.
10 – the pump starts, and the « Sampling…» message is displayed (see diagram 4 below). The
instrument takes the sample during the programmed duration, at the setting flow rate of 1 m

/h.
11 – the pump stops, sampling is finished.
12 – the instrument launches the Geiger counter pre-heating, then the source-holder cylinder is placed
into « Measurement » position and carries out the measurement of the
radiation attenuation on the
particles deposit at the filter surface.
At any time, the user can interrupt the sampling and the current measurement by pressing down the
[Stop] key: the instrument asks for confirmation, YES or NO. Validate the wanted choice.

display. In case of delayed start, once the [Start] key is pressed, the device waits for the programmed
hour. In case of synchronized start, the analyzer waits for an external dry contact to be closed.
