9. Features: Identifying
The ‘Identify’ category helps you identify what is around you by describing or
detecting objects, people, and colours.
9.1 Describe Scene
Get a simple description of the scene in front of you. This feature works by taking a
photo, which is then processed and the description is spoken out. The description is
AI-generated, hence not 100% accurate but sufficient to get a general
understanding of what's in front of you. This is ideal for understanding and
exploring new places and environments.
Follow the steps below to use ‘Describe Scene’:
1. Navigate to ‘Identify’ in the category menu.
2. Go to ‘Describe Scene’ and do a one-finger double tap.
3. A countdown sound will play followed by a camera shutter sound. This
means a photo has been taken and the picture is being processed. Upon
completion, the scene will be described out loud.
4. One-finger single tap to repeat the described scene, one-finger double tap to
describe another scene, or one-finger swipe down to exit.
9.1.1 Taught faces in Describe Scene
If a person whose face was registered within the Envision App is in the scene, their
name will be included in the scene description.
9.2 Detect Light
Detect the intensity of light in your current environment. Audio cues help you
determine how bright it is around you. A lower pitch or frequency of beeps means
no or limited light is being detected. You can use this to determine whether you're
in a dark room or to find out if the screen of your electronic devices are on.
