What's new in release 4.14.1?
Firmware 4.14.1 adds some innovative new features to Pearl-2, like the new Content Management System
(CMS) event start screen that you can lock. A great solution to simplify starting and stopping events or when
installing Pearl-2 in classrooms and unmanned kiosks. For Kaltura, you can now webcast to a pre-configured
streaming URL destination. And for Panopto, we made it possible to upload a locally recorded version of a
webcast and replace the original webcast version. Plus we added some other new items and fixed an issue
that affected the video encoding quality.
Firmware 4.14.1
Upload local webcast recording to Panopto
Pearl-2 now records Panopto webcasting events locally and uploads the recording so that the Panopto server
uses the local recording from Pearl-2 instead of the original webcast. You can disable this feature using the
Admin panel.
Locking CMS start screen
Configure Pearl-2's touch screen to show the Content Management System (CMS) events screen at start up.
Add a PIN to restrict user access to the start screen. Locking the start screen is useful when operating Pearl-2
in public spaces, classrooms, and unmanned kiosks.
Pre-configured stream URLs for Kaltura webcasts
When you create a Kaltura webcasting event on Pearl-2, you have the option to use the primary and backup
URLs supplied by Kaltura or to choose a stream destination URL that is created locally for the channel on
Pearl-2.
Schedule CMS event uploads
You can define a time period when Pearl-2 can upload Content Management System (CMS) event recordings
to the CMS server. Recordings made outside the upload time period are queued until it's time to start
uploading.
Adjustable fan speed
Your Pearl-2 will sound a bit different after the firmware update because we changed the fan speed for better
internal cooling. We also added some controls for you to adjust the fan speed using the Admin panel.
