Protecting the Hard Disk Drive
Your hard disk drive is designed for travel and
lots of use. Follow these precautions, however,
to protect your data and prolong hard disk
life.
Never turn off or reset the computer when
it is copying data to or from the hard disk
drive (the indicator light is on).
Never remove the hard disk drive when
the computer is on.
After turning the power off, wait
20 seconds before moving the computer.
This allows the disks in the drive to stop
spinning and the read/write heads to lock
in place.
Although the hard disk drive is very
reliable, be sure to back up your files
regularly.
