Check on service display DT 288, DT 360, DT 368
The portable can be switched to service display mode (type DT 310 does not support this function) dis-
playing information regarding the radio interface like BS number, carrier, time slot number, RSSI etc.
When the service display is active, calls cannot be made and incoming calls will terminate the service
display mode. To make this display visible while calling, first setup the call and then, via the `R(inquiry)'
menu, access the service display menu.
Note: Activating the service display reduces the normal functioning of the portable. It is therefore recom-
mended only to use this facility in exceptional cases, e.g. when service requires such.

Explanation of Service Displays
Data is always displayed in hexadecimal numbers. The Base Station number relates to the physical con-
nection in the central Unit.
Note:
A portable is always blind for the two adjacent time slots. For example, a portable is locked on a
Base Station on TS 5. If it approaches a Base Station that has only one active channel (traffic or bea-
con) on TS 4 or TS 6, the portable will not see that Base Station. The display remains unchanged until
the current channel or the channel of the second Base Station changes. Consider this when using the
menu's below.
Link Info
The Link Info option can be used for site surveys and commissioning of the system. All information re-
garding the traffic/beacon channel to which the portable is locked, is visible. The signal strength theoret-
ically varies between /00 and /3F. In practice, values will lie between /07 and /37, of which /07 means
noise, /37 means optimum quality. Typical values are /20 .. /29.
