Continuity Testing LLUT (Line) to LLUL (POTS) Blocks
This test is only applicable where the POTS/VoIP card is
NOT
fitted.
To verify continuity through the Connection Unit 02HAT00282AAQ, then continuity
testing MUST be undertaken between the LLUT block (Line) cables and the LLUL
block (POTS) cables for all ports as detailed below.
a.
Connect a digital multimeter to the +Ve (A leg) of the first ADSL line on the
HDF Handover Frame LLUT block. Connect the other probe of the digital
multimeter to the +Ve (A leg) of the first POTS line on the HDF Handover
Frame LLUL block and check for continuity.
b.
Connect the digital multimeter to the -Ve (B leg) of the first ADSL line on the
HDF Handover Frame LLUT block. Connect the other probe of the digital
multimeter to the -Ve (B leg) of the first POTS line on the HDF Handover
Frame LLUL block and check for continuity.
c.
All pairs shall also be continuity checked to
EARTH
to ensure no earth
faults are present.
d.
Repeat steps a. to c. for all 64 lines on the Connection Unit
02HAT00282AAQ, each time moving the multimeter to the next line pair to
be tested on the HDF Handover Frame LLUT and LLUL blocks.
e.
Repeat the test, steps a. to d. for each Connection Unit 02HAT00282AAQ
and the associated Line and POTS cables.
f.
If there is a disconnection between the LLUT block (Line) cable and the
LLUL block (POTS) cable, re-check that the POTS Pass Back boxes are
ticked for all ports 1 to 64 by repeating the ITAM Splitter Configuration
check in Sub-Section 9.4.2.
g.
If you need to remove the Connection Unit, unscrew and remove, using the
extraction levers. Ensure even pressure is applied to the top and bottom
extraction levers as the Connection unit is removed from the shelf.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you remove and then re-insert a Connection Unit,
the associated 64 x ADSL card MUST be removed and re-inserted after the
Connection Unit is installed. The 64 x ADSL card will then send a reset
signal to the Connection Unit as part of its start-up sequence.
