The value of the PROF parameter should be a voice profile set to either 9 or 10, where:
!
9 = PCM-64, 44 octet packets, no silence suppression.
!
10 = PCM-64 and ADPCM-32, 44 octet packets, no silence suppression.
In slave mode, the HL950 selects the coding algorithm, i.e. dynamically adapts its algorithm to the one
used by the voice gateway. Slave mode also enables fax/modem detection by the voice gateway
through using PCM-64 for the initial phase of the call.
The interworking function also routes incoming traffic into various virtual circuits based upon a
variety of parameters. This ability allows calls to be routed on called-address, incoming interface, time
slot, priority or other signaling mechanisms.
Voice Coding (Companding Law) is supported and is set with the COMP parameter to be either A-law
or u-law (where ULAW is default).
4.9.1.2
Manage the ATM and FXS ports
The VOICE PORT ATM is used for managing the BLES ports and the VOICE PORT FXS is used for
controlling the FxS ports.
The HL950 supports CLIP transmission to the analogue ports in on-hook and off-hook state. It also
provides echo cancellation for received voice signal for 16 simultaneous voice channels.
4.9.1.3 Lifeline
Support
Life-line support is provided through a lifeline fallback connection to which all POTS FxS ports are
automatically connected in case of a power failure.
4.9.1.4 Typical
Examples
The following shows an example for configuring the VOICE service:
Start the WAN SHDSL interface:
HL950> start interface wan shdsl;
Add an ATM VCC for BLES:
HL950> add interface atm vcc:name=BLES, type=AAL2, srvtype=vbrrt, vcc=0/40,
pcr=600000, scr=512000, mbs=10;
Set the VCC name in the VGW:
HL950> set voice media atm:vcname=BLES;
Start the VGW service:
HL950> start vgw service;
Add one or more FxS ports:
HL950> add voice port fxs port=0;
Add one or more BLES ports and connect them with the desired FxS ports.
HL950> add voice port atm port=0, cid=16, fport=0;
where
fport
is the corresponding FxS port.
