which the new STATUS will be transmitted.
This new STATUS will be re-transmitted
every time the M-PA is polled. To send a
MESSAGE, press the "*" key followed by
the digit corresponding to the desired
MESSAGE. The name programmed into
the personality for that particular MES-
SAGE will appear on the display for ap-
proximately 3 seconds after which the
MESSAGE will be transmitted. This
STATUS and MESSAGE information can
be logged using an RSM (Remote Status
Monitor) terminal.
CONVENTIONAL MODE OPERATION
The procedures that follow describe
conventional mode operation. Follow
these procedures if operating in a conven-
tional system. Each conventional channel
can have one or more features, such as
Channel Guard, programmed when the
channel is selected.
Receiving A Message
1.
Slide the ON/OFF SWITCH on
the battery pack to the on posi-
tion. The radio will initiate and
complete the power-up self-
test and beep if the power-up
alert tone is programmed on.
2.
Select the desired conventional
channel. See the section enti-
tled "SYSTEM/GROUP/CHAN-
NEL SELECTION" for details.
The display will indicate the
selected channel’s name.
3.
Momentarily press the MONI-
TO R B U T TO N t o d i s a b l e
squelch and adjust the volume
for the approximate desired
speaker audio level.
If a coded-squelch tone decode
feature such as Channel Guard
(CG) or Type 99 (T99) is pro-
grammed for the selected chan-
nel, this feature will be enabled
when the channel is selected.
The appropriate display status
flag will turn on to indicate the
programmed feature. The fea-
ture can be disabled by depress-
ing the MONITOR BUTTON for
