Adjustments

The Screen Box may need to be balanced if you add or remove fingers to modify the spacing.
The weight of the Screen Box changes which unbalances the shaft assembly. This situation
will create excessive vibrations throughout the machine and may even affect the screening by
reducing production speed and product quality. There are two possible screen actions (throw),
10 and 13 mm (3/8 and 1/2 inch).
If you add weight on the Screen Box, the adjustable counter weights should be moved down,
away from the eccentric shaft. The action of the Screen Box should make the box move in
circle. If the eccentric shaft is not still (the box does not turn around its axis) when in function,
the box is not properly balanced.
INSTRUCTIONS!
Make sure the Screen Box is empty before doing any adjustment.
Before doing any adjustment on the Screen Box, proceed with the
Check List Prior to Start
Up.
To adjust the Screen Box, raise the throttle to the maximum RPM (around 2200 RPM)
and start the Screen Box with lever F. Then, wait for the Screen Box to reach its full speed.
To check if the Screen Box is properly balanced, look at the Screen Box action to see if it
makes circular movements. These must have perfect circular form. For example, pay attention
to the movement around a bolt near the housing. When the Screen Box is balanced, its
vibrating action should make the bolt moves in circle. Another way to check if the Screen is
balanced is to look at the center of the eccentric shaft (there is a hole at the center of the shaft
which may be used as a marker) to see if it remains stable in space when the Screen Box is
running empty. When the shaft is properly balanced, it should make no or almost no
movement. Different way to check if the Screen Box is balanced is to look at the bender arm
of the idler pulley on the motor side. When the bender arm is stable, the Screen Box is
balanced.
Always properly stop the Screen Box and the motor, and follow the machine locking
procedure prior to move the counter weight. Make sure the Screen Box is fully stopped.
In some cases, if you remove weight from the box, counter weights should be moved up
towards the eccentric shaft. If you remove a lot of weight, you can remove completely the
adjustable counter weights.
