Section 5 – Internet Sources
The Smart Gateway supports acquiring internet access via a SIM card, WiFi Source or Ethernet Source. If
the source of the internet access is behind a router and/or uses a private IP Address (vs. a Public/Static IP
Address), Survey Controller running on the internal laptop will still be able to push data to Deployment
Manager. However, remote administration of the Gateway will not be possible and remote administration of
the internal laptop will not be possible without using 3
rd
party software such as ‘Go To Assist’, Adobe
Connect, etc. As such, it is recommended that the primary internet source for the Smart Gateway should be
a SIM card with a Public IP Address. Purchasing this type of SIM card can be done by contacting your
Regional Working Capital Fund Coordinator and requesting a SIM Card with a Public/Static IP Address.
The steps below are considered Technically
Advanced and should be performed with caution

Internal SIM Card
This Gateway carries Firmware for AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. It auto-detects which carrier’s SIM is
inserted and switches to that version Firmware automatically. There is no need to ‘flash’ the Gateway
if/when switching between carriers. You can see which firmware is selected by logging into the Cradlepoint
and navigating to SYSTEM | SYSTEM CONTROL | FIRMWARE.
For additional information on
Interpreting LEDs on the Gateway
