4. Insert the fuse holder assembly
back into the IEC connector. The unit
is now ready to operate on 220 VAC.
To change back to 120 VAC operating
voltage, simply reverse the process.
Light for Ionizer (Optional)
Figure 7. 43404 Ionizer with light
The 43405 (120 volt model only) is
available with a light. Overhead
ionizers can block light from the
workbench making it difficult to see.
This new light feature will provide
additional lighting over the workbench
area, improving visibility. Ionizers can
be purchased with the light already
installed or the light can be installed
onto any existing unit. Call Customer
Service at (508) 485-7390 to receive
authorization to send existing units to
the factory and ESD Systems will
install the light.
Filter for Ionizer (Optional)
Figure 8. Item 43465 Filter for Ionizer
The 43405 is available with a filter.
Overhead ionizers operate more
effectively when the air is free of
contaminants. The filter will allow the
overhead ionizer to operate longer
between maintenance intervals. Install
the filter on the ionizer using two
screws. See Figure 8. For more
information on the filter call our
customer service department at (508)
485-7390.

Voltage Selection
The 43405 has a switchable power
inlet which allows its use with either
120 or 220 VAC. All units are shipped
set up to operate on 120 VAC.
IMPORTANT NOTE: BEFORE
OPERATING ON 220 VAC IT IS
NECESSARY TO MODIFY THE
VOLTAGE SELECTOR CIRCUIT
INCORPORATED WITHIN THE
IEC CONNECTOR/FUSE
ASSEMBLY.
1. Disconnect the power cord at the
IEC connector from the unit.
2. Insert a small flat blade screw
driver into the slotted opening on the
IEC connector. Press down and gently
pry out the fuse holder from the IEC
connector. See figure 5.
Figure 5. Opening the fuse/voltage
selector assembly.
3. The proper operating voltage will
be indicated on the fuse holder
assembly. To change the operating
voltage to 220 VAC slide out the small
circuit board/voltage indicator. Flip
the circuit board assembly over and
re-insert it into the fuse holder so that
the voltage indicator now reads 220
VAC. See figure 6.
Figure 6. Changing the operating
voltage from 120 VAC to 220 VAC.
Operation
After the ionizer has been securely
mounted, connect the power cord to
the IEC connector on the back of the
unit and then to a convenient
grounded receptacle. It is
recommended that the AC outlet be
checked for proper wiring and
grounding, as the ionizer depends on a
good ground for balancing. All of the
ionizer's operating controls are located
on a highly visible, easy to operate,
central control panel located on the
face of the unit. (See figure 10 for
detailed illustration).
Operator Lockout Key
The model 43405 overhead ionizer
includes an operator lockout switch
that is designed to ensure optimum
performance. The operator lockout
key is located on the back side of the
unit. See figure 9 for a detailed
illustration. Once the unit has been
properly installed and is running, the
user may adjust the unit’s fan speed
and alarm to desired settings.
Adjustments to the unit can only be
made while the key is inserted. When
the key is removed from the unit the
control panel will be disengaged and
non-operational. This feature will
eliminate poor performance caused by
unauthorized tampering of the
ionizer's settings.
