CONNECTING ROOF JACK TO FURNACE
IMPORTANT NOTICE
It is mandatory that the flue pipe and combustion air tube
be securely fastened to the furnace with sheet metal
screws.
NOTE
Only the combustion air tube needs to be fastened to fur-
nace when using a 4000 Series Roof Jack since combus-
tion air tube and flue pipe are part of the same assembly.
a. Check to be certain that the flue pipe and combus-
tion air tube are present.
b. Pull the telescoping flue tube and combustion air
tube assembly down from the roof jack. Slide the flue
tube/combustion air tube assembly down firmly over
the furnace flue outlet and combustion air collar. In-
sure that the back, side and front of combustion air
tube collar is fully engaged. Fasten the combustion
air tube to the furnace combustion air collar using
two (2)

inch sheet metal screws. (Screw holes are
provided in combustion air tube and furnace com-
bustion air collar.
See Figure 13.
c. Secure roof jack flashing to roof. See Figure 6 & 7.
CAUTION
IF EXCESSIVELY LONG SCREWS ARE USED TO SE-
CURE THE COMBUSTION AIR TUBE TO THE FURNACE
COMBUSTION AIR COLLAR, THEY MAY EXTEND
THROUGH THE COMBUSTION AIR TUBE AND DE-
FORM OR PUNCTURE THE FURNACE FLUE COLLAR.
IF SUBSTITUTE SCREWS ARE USED ON THE 7900 SE-
RIES ROOF JACK, THEY MUST NOT EXCEED 1-1/2” IN
LENGTH.
