1. Place the child in the carrier.
The child’s back and bottom are flat against the
back and bottom surfaces of the carrier.
2. Secure the child in the carrier
(pages 34-35).
Harness straps
MUST
start as close as possible to,
but
NEVER
above, the child’s shoulders (page 34).
Both buckle tongues are fastened (page 34).
Chest clip is securely fastened and at armpit
level (page 35).
Harness straps are snug against the child and you
should not be able to pinch the harness (page 35).
Buckle strap is snug against the child but
NOT
under the child’s bottom (page 34).
3. Secure child restraint to the vehicle seat.
Carrier is securely installed with vehicle seat belt
(page 30).
The shoulder strap portion of the seat belt is lying
across the vehicle seat back (page 30).
Locking clip is installed, if necessary (page 44).
The level line is level with the ground (page 31).
If necessary, a towel/small blanket is rolled up and
placed beneath the front edge of the carrier so the
child’s head lies back comfortably (page 31).
4. Check your work.
The carrier
MUST NOT
move more than 2.5 cm
( 1 in.) from side-to-side or from front-to-back at the
vehicle belt path.

(page 32).
Child’s head
MUST
be at least 2.5 cm (1 in.) below
the top of the carrier.
