Model 8010TM SDI Time Code Master Manual
OPERATION
Revision 1.5.1
Page 3-31
For proper operation the SDI input video and the external colour reference must be
vertically in phase.
3.7.8. Turning on the Daylight Saving Time Compensation
DAYLIGHT SAVING
When the generator is operating in the
Time date
mode, the
DAYLIGHT
SAVING
menu item is used to select whether the time will be
compensated for Daylight Saving time or not.
Select
Dst time on
to compensate for Daylight saving time. This setting
should be used during the period when daylight saving time is in effect.
When this setting is used 1 hour will be subtracted from the Time zone
offset value when the 8010TM converts between UTC and local time.
Select
Dst time off
to turn off compensation for Daylight saving time.
This setting should be used during the period when daylight saving time
is not in effect.

3.7.9. Configuring the General Purpose Inputs and Outputs
A 9 pin D connector located on the rear panel labeled
PARALLEL
provides control inputs and outputs
for remote control of some of the model 8010TM functions. There are also two open collector outputs
that can be assigned to a variety of functions. The pinout of the D connector when the 8010TM is not in
the
time rctl
mode is shown in Table 2-3.
The general purpose outputs can be assigned to several different functions. The outputs will be active
low when the specified condition occurs. The duration of the outputs is user programmable except
where noted. There are two user programmable general purpose inputs and four dedicated GPI inputs.
Sections 3.7.9.2 to 3.7.9.5 describe the operation of the GPIO functions when the 8010TM is not
operating the
time rctl
mode
When the 8010TM is operating in the
time rctl
mode, the functions of these
PARALLEL
port pins is
reassigned to provide a method of inputting Remote Control contact closure information for encoding
into the user bits. The pinout of the D connector when the 8010TM is in the
Time RCTL
mode is shown
in Table 2-4. Section 3.7.9.1 describes the operation of the
time rctl
mode.
3.7.9.1. Remote Control Mode
When the
GEN MODE
is set to
time rctl
the 8010TM allows the user to encode remote control contact
closure information in the VITC user bits. This feature allows the user to use the six parallel remote
control inputs to set one of the six remote control user bit patterns. At the decoder end the 7721GPI-D
D-VITC GPI Decoder module decodes the remote control user bits and outputs them on six open
collector outputs. When the 8010TM is operated in this mode the normal functions of all the parallel
remote control inputs except
VITC enable
and
Bypass
are disabled.
