3.4.5.
SD - HD Translator
The SD-HD TRANSLATOR option allows the user to select the CEA-608 service (CC1, CC2, CC3,
CC4, T1, T2, T3, T4) to be translated to the CEA-708 services (1 through 63). To configure the SD-HD
Translator, use the
UP
and
DOWN
arrows until SD-HD TRANSLATOR is displayed on the front panel.
Press
SELECT
to enter this menu. Use the
UP
and
DOWN
arrows to select the CEA-608 service
(CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, T1, T2, T3, T4) to be translated to CEA-708. Press
SELECT
to configure. Use
the
UP
and
DOWN
arrows to choose the CEA-708 service (1 through 63) or choose DISABLE to
disable the option. Press
SETUP
to exit this level.
3.4.5.1.
Master Control
The Master Control parameter allows GPI control to enable/disable all SD-HD closed caption translator
functionality. Typical applications include automation and master control systems that require the
closed caption translator to be enabled and disabled remotely. The possible options include ON
(default value) or GPI.
3.4.6.
Service Info Setup
The Service Information Setup allows the user to configure the Caption Service Flags and Language
information that is optionally encoded in the Service Infor section of CDPs. Receivers may use the
service information generated by the HD9084.
Refer to section 3.4.3.3. for information on how to enable the encoding of the
Service Information section in the CDPs.
3.4.6.1.
Service Enable
To Enable and Disable the Service Information option, use the
UP
and
DOWN
arrows until SERVICE
ENABLE is displayed on the front panel. Press
SELECT
to configure the selection. The SVC INFO
can be Enabled or Disabled. The ENABLE option will enable the service. The DISABLE option will
disable service information signaling for the selected service.
3.4.6.2.
Set Service Flags
There are two descriptive flags that may be set for each caption service: Easy Reader and Wide Aspect
Ratio. These Service Information Flags provide information to downstream devices capable of reading
the Service Information section.
NONE:
No caption service flags are turned on for this caption service.
EASY READER:
Indicates that the captions encoded on this service are “easy reader” captions.
Easy reader captions are for viewers with a lower vocabulary level (i.e. children).
WIDE ASP RATIO:
Indicates that the captions are formatted for a Wide Aspect Ratio display. Each
row of captions may be up to 42 characters wide, versus the typical 32.
EASY-R & WIDE:
Both Easy Reader and Wide Aspect Ratio flags are turned on for this service.
