•
PC or notebook with USB 2.0/3.0

Installation:
•
make sure your hard drive is set to "Master" and insert it into the enclosure
•
connect the device with your computer
•
the computer should now detect the new device
•
if the device is not recognized, find it in "My computer"
•
usually, an unpartitioned or unformatted new drive is not automatically recognized. Please follow these
steps (skip this part, in case your hard drive has already been formatted):
o
Right click on “My Computer” and choose “Manage” from the drop-down list. A window called
“Computer Management” will pop up.
o
Click on “Disk Management”. All connected hard drives will be displayed in the lower right corner
of the window.
o
Locate your new external drive in the list, right-click on it to create new partitions and/or format
an existing partition.
ATTENTION: All data in this partition will be deleted!
o
Go to “My Computer”, locate the external disk, right-click on it and select “Format” from the drop-
down list, follow the instructions to complete the formatting process.
ATTENTION: All data will be
deleted!
o
Using this method to format your drive will result in a single partition with the largest possible
drive capacity. This method is also highly recommended.
How to disconnect the drive: use the "Safely Remove" program in your Windows System Tray. Failure to do so
can result in damage or data loss.
Disposal
The symbol of the crossed out garbage can on the product, within the literature or on the packaging reminds you
that in the European Union, all electric and electronic products, batteries and accumulators must be disposed of
(recycled) at the end of their service life. Do not throw these products into the unsorted municipal waste.
