Introduction:

The EX N’ FLEX “mini” has been designed to help individuals recovering from  surgery, who are
confined to bed (short or long term) or have elder walking problems; maintain flexibility of muscles,
ligaments. and tendons.  For small children it  maintains flexibility of muscles and tendons
commensurate with bone growth.  The predictable Range of Motion exercise provides a Patterning
Signal to the Brain.

Plug Power Cord into 110 VAC outlet

Use from chair:

Seating

: chair, wheelchair or lounge chair, small chair or

wheelchair for a child.   If using a wheel chair a small platform
(blue storage box with weights inside) may be required to raise
the machine to foot level     The weights could be phone books ,
old magazines, sand bags etc.

Position user in front of machine and place feet in foot rests.     It is
essential that the user wear shoes   when using the machine.
Children may require a foam insert (provided) at back of foot.
This insert also takes up any space at the side of foot to prevent
movement.

Secure foot straps over feet.     Long strap goes up, over the ankle
and down the back of the foot rest to fasten on the velcro.     Be
sure the ankle/foot is well secured (not the shoe).     Short strap
goes over the instep and fastens under foot rest.

To operate the machine, choose either Lo, Med or Hi speed
(black switch) on Control Unit.     Then start the machine by
pressing the red switch to either Forward or Reverse.     Time
Should be divided between Forward and Reverse.   Reverse
motion gives excellent ankle movement     The Control Unit is on
a Retractile Cord and can be held in the hand .     To turn Machine
Off, return red switch to Off position.

The Lo/ Med/ Hi switch permits a choice of speeds, 20/30 &40
RPM.   It is recommended you start your initial program in Lo and
progress to higher speed when desired.

Be sure leg is not hyper-extended.     There must be some bend in
the knee at its furthest extension.   Rotate one revolution to
ensure the unit is   positioned correctly.

If some active exercise is desired, push legs in a rotary motion
while the motor is running (ie:, override the motor.    Do not turn
machine off).

The pediatric has an adjustment to stabilize the machine during
extreme active pushing, when used on the floor or on a bed.
Turn machine upside down and locate the 1/4” round bar

“A”

with a rubber sheath on the bottom of machine.   There are two
slotted discs, one on each side

B & C

, into which the bar is

secured.   Pull this bar outward, both sides at the same time, and
swing the bar up and away from the base.   Release   the ends so
they lock into the slot which gives the most stability, this is
generally the second slot. To release from stabilizing position,
reverse process and swing bar back onto base
