WB PSD Noise Test
WB PSD Noise Test
The Wideband PSD (Power Spectral Density) noise test measures the noise
power across a wide frequency passband, to provide an indication of the
presence of XTALK, noise disturbers, impulse noise, EMI, and other
sources (such as North American AM radio) that have coupled onto the
cable pair under test. The test automatically identifies some typical
cross-talk (XTALK) such as HDSL or ISDN, while you can move the cursor
over other peaks to see the frequency and power level of specific
frequencies. You can view a
mask
, a line representing the power
distribution of typical circuits such as ISDN, overlaid on the noise graph to
identify the presence of other signals on the line under test.
WB PSD
The
PSD
page allows you to configure the parameters for the wideband
PSD noise test and view the results.
To access WB PSD page:
1.
From the
Copper
main menu
Test Groups
, select
Noise
test.
2.
From the
Tests
menu, select
WB PSD Noise
test to start the test.
By default, the
WB PSD
page opens.
3.
Use the graph controls to maneuver the graph. Refer to
on page 19 for more information, except for Mask
, see below.
