20 Troubleshooting
Solving Common Problems
Before calling EXFO’s technical support, please read the following
common problems that can occur and their respective solution.
Problem
Possible Cause
Solution
Unit does not turn on.
Battery is discharged.
Charge the battery.
Replace the battery with
a fully charged one.
Connect the unit to an
external power supply
using the AC
adapter/charger.
Unit is not connected to an
external power supply.
Connect the unit to an
external power supply using
the AC adapter/charger.
External power supply is
disconnected.
Make sure the external
power supply is connected
at both ends.
Unit screen is dark.
Unit’s backlight is off.
Tap the backlight button.
Battery is discharged and
unit has shut down.
Charge the battery.
Replace the battery with
a fully charged one.
Connect the unit to an
external power supply
using the AC
adapter/charger.
Unit is in suspend or
hibernate mode.
Press power button
momentarily.
