Cleaning Detector Ports
Regular cleaning of connectors will help maintain optimum performance.
To clean detector ports:
1.
Remove the detector protective cap and the connector adapter (FOA).
2.
If the detector is dusty, remove dirt with compressed air.
3.
Take a cleaning tip from the package (supplied with EXFO’s power meters)
being careful not to touch the soft end of the swab.
4.
Moisten the cleaning tip with
only one drop
of isopropyl alcohol.
5.
While applying light pressure, gently rotate the cleaning tip on the detector
window.
6.
Repeat previous step, but this time with a dry cleaning tip or blow dry with
compressed air.
7.
Discard the cleaning tips after one use.
I
MPORTANT
To help keep the detectors and adapters clean, EXFO
recommends that you install protective caps when the unit is
not in use. You should also clean the fiber ends before every
connection.
