6.5 Insert the calibration cable into the sub-miniature female connector on the side panel.
Be sure to check that it is inserted with the proper polarity and make sure the proper
type is selected in the display.
6.6
Note:
For greater accuracy, especially if there is a difference between the internal
temperature of the calibrator and the device under calibration, we recommend that
you use a thermocouple cable rather than the copper cable that is supplied with the
calibrator. The thermocouple cable must match the thermocouple type of the device
under calibration.
6.7 Connect the other end of the cable to the device to be calibrated.
6.8 Allow the proper warm up time for the Calibrator and the Device to be calibrated. At
least 30 minutes is typically recommended.
6.9 Adjust to the desired output temperature using the up/down “COURSE” adjustment
buttons on the faceplate and the “FINE” adjustment knob on the side panel. The
output temperature will be displayed on the LED display. The “COURSE” adjustment
has 16 increments and will display “high” or “low” when out of range.
7. DIRECT MV CALIBRATION AND MEASUREMENT
For directly calibration or measuring thermocouple devices in mV rather than in
temperature, press the “TYPE” button until the F or C in the LED display disappears (only
the “
O
” remains). The LED display will now indicate in mV rather than temperature units.
8. BATTERY OPERATION
WARNING
: DO NOT CONNECT THE AC ADAPTOR TO THE METER IF A 9V
ALKALINE BATTERY IS INSTALLED.
8.1 For field applications, it is recommended that the operator use the rechargeable
NiCad battery that comes with
8.2 A quality 9V alkaline battery may be used in place of the rechargeable (8.4V) NiCad
battery that comes with the unit.
8.3 A flashing “F” or “C” on the LED display indicates a low battery condition.
