Troubleshooting Guide
Issue
Cause
Resolution
Operator screen is
blank
Machine is not plugged in
Check incoming power for proper voltage.
Machine power switch is off.
Verify that the power switch is turned on.
A fuse is blown
See Chapter 9 – Care & Maintenance for
instructions on replacing fuses.
A button on the
operator screen
does not work.
Touch screen is damaged.
The operator interface must be replaced.
Contact Extol at 1-800-324-6205 for a
replacement.
Machine will not
start.
E-Stop button is pressed.
Pull up E-Stop
A fault is present
Check the message box on the Main screen
for faults. Press the reset button to clear
the faults.
Both start buttons were not
pressed simultaneously.
Release both start buttons, press reset
then try again making sure to press both
buttons at the same time.
Machine is not home
Check the message box on the Main screen
for any operator messages.
Press the reset button to reset the
machine.
A part present sensor is not
on.
If you have part presence sensors
configured make sure that they are coming
on when the part(s) is loaded.
A part present sensor is
configured but not used.
Check the Setup-Tool screen for part
present inputs that are configured but not
being used.
Load mode is set for Vacuum
and upper part half is not
loaded.
Go to the Main screen. If the Load Upper
button is visible be certain to load the
upper part half and press the Load Upper
button before attempting to start the cycle.
Vacuum will not
hold part securely
Vacuum cup is not adjusted
properly.
Adjust cup in or out to achieve a better
seal.
Vacuum cup is damaged
Replace the cup.
Air pressure is low.
Check main regulator for full line pressure
(85 psi).
Spindle stops while
moving down
One or both start buttons
were release during the head
down stroke.
Release both start buttons. Press the reset
button on the Main screen and try again.
Spindle retracts
during the weld.
The safety trigger is not set
properly.
Adjust the safety trigger. See chapter 5 for
adjustment instructions.
Spindle stops
moving down but
spinning does not
begin.
The mechanical stop is set
too high.
Lower the mechanical stop. See chapter 5
for adjustment instructions.
Spindle does not
retract after cycle
is complete
The part failed
Check Main screen for part failure
messages. Press reset to retract head.
Low air pressure
Check main regulator for full line pressure
(85 psi).
