Preparing the Chassis for Removal
To prepare the chassis for removal from the rack, remove the installed modular components:

Turn off the power to the chassis and remove the installed power supplies.

Remove the power cord retainer and disconnect all power cords.

Remove all the installed power supplies as described
on page 74
.

Remove all the installed modules.

At the front of the chassis, attach the shipping cover over the I/O module slots.
Removing the Chassis from the Rack
To remove the chassis from the rack:
1
On the back of the chassis, remove the screws from the ground lug to disconnect the ground wire
from the chassis.

Using four mounting screws, attach the support brackets to the equipment rack immediately below
the chassis.

Remove the rack mounting screws that secure the chassis to the rack.

Slowly guide the chassis out of the equipment rack using the support bracket for support.

Attach the lifting handles to each side of the chassis.

Carefully lift the chassis off the support bracket and lower it onto the wood pallet (see
Figure 58
).
CAUTION
Do not use the fan tray handles to lift or maneuver the BlackDiamond X8 chassis. The handles on the
fan trays are not designed to support the weight of the chassis.

Remove the mid-mount brackets from the sides of the chassis.
