configure stpd ports link-type edge edge-safeguard
enable
configure stpd <spanning tree name> ports link-type edge <portlist>
edge-safeguard enable
Description
Enables RSTP on the specified edge port for the specified STPD.
Syntax Description
Default
By default this feature is disabled.
Usage Guidelines
This command applies only to ports that have already been configured edge ports.
Enabling RSTP on edge ports provides a loop detection mechanism (called “edge safeguard”) without
preventing rapid network convergence of these ports. Edge ports with RSTP enter the forwarding state
within four seconds.
To view the status of the edge safeguard feature, use the
show stpd <spanning tree name> ports
<portlist> {detail}
command. The
show stpd
command displays information about the STPD
configuration on the switch, including the enable/disable state for edge safeguard. To disable edge
safeguard, use the
configure stpd <spanning tree name> ports link-type edge <portlist>
edge-safeguard disable
command.
Example
The following command enables RSTP on edge port 4 in STPD
s1
on a stand-alone switch:
configure stpd s1 ports link-type edge 4 edge-safeguard enable
The following command enables RSTP on slot 2, port 1 in STPD
s1
on a modular switch:
configure stpd s1 ports link-type edge 2:1 edge-safeguard enable
