HAMMER SAFETY WARNINGS

f

Wear  ear  protectors.

Exposure to noise can

cause hearing loss.

f

Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the

tool.

Loss of control can cause personal injury.

f

Hold the tool by the insulated gripping sur

-

faces  when  performing  operations  where

the application tool or the screw could con

-

tact  hidden  wiring  or  its  own  power  cord.

Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed

metal parts of the power tool “live” and shock

the operator.

f

Connect the mains plug only when the tool is

switched off.

After using, pull the mains plug.

f

Always direct the cable to the rear away from

the machine.

f

Do not carry the machine by the cable.

f

When working with the machine, always hold it

firmly with both hands and provide for a secure

stance.

f

During  pauses  in  the  work,  when  not  in  use  or

during work on the machine itself (e.g., chang-

ing  of  the  working  tools,  repairs,  cleaning,  ad-

justment), pull the mains plug.

f

Persons under 16 year of age are not permitted

to operate this machine.

f

Keep  the  tool  accessories  out  of  the  reach  of

children.

f

Only use original accessories

ADDITIONAL  SAFETY  AND  WORKING  IN-

STRUCTIONS

f

Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage

of  the  power  source  must  agree  with  the

voltage  specified  on  the  nameplate  of  the

machine. Power tools marked with 230 V can

also be operated with 220 V.

f

Use  appropriate  detectors  to  determine  if

utility  lines  are  hidden  in  the  work  area  or

call the local utility company for assistance.

Contact  with  electric  lines  can  lead  to  fire  and

electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to

explosion. Penetrating a water line causes prop

-

erty damage.

f

Firmly tighten the auxiliary handle, hold the

machine firmly with both hands while work

-

ing and keep proper footing and balance at

all times.

The machine is securely guided with

both hands.

f

Secure  the  workpiece.

A  workpiece  clamped

with clamping devices or in a vice is held more

secure than by hand.

f

Inserting  SDS-Max  Drilling  Tools:

Check  the

latching by pulling the tool.

f

Replace a damaged dust protection cap im

-

mediately.

The dust protection cap largely pre

-

vents the penetration of drilling dust into the

tool holder during operation. When inserting

the tool, pay attention that the dust protection

cap is not damaged.

f

Dust from materials such as lead-containing

coatings,  some  wood  types,  minerals  and

metal  can  be  harmful  to  one’s  health  and

cause allergic reactions, lead to respiratory

infections and/or cancer.

Materials containing

asbestos may only be worked by specialists.

ƒ

As far as possible, use a dust extraction system

suitable for the material.

ƒ

Provide  for  good  ventilation  of  the  working

place.

ƒ

It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class res-

pirator.

Observe the relevant regulations in your coun

-

try for the materials to be worked.

f

Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace.

Dust can easily ignite.

f

If  the  application  tool  should  become

blocked, switch the machine off.

Loosen the

application tool.

f

Before  switching  on  the  power  tool,  make

sure that the application tool moves freely.

When switching on with a blocked drilling tool,

high torque reaction can occur.

f

To save energy, only switch the power tool on

when using it.

f

Always  wait  until  the  machine  has  come  to

a complete stop before placing it down.

The

tool insert can jam and lead to loss of control

over the power tool.

VIBRATION SAFETY

This  tool  vibrates  during  use.  Repeated  or

longterm exposure to vibration may cause tem

-

porary or permanent physical injury, particularly

to the hands, arms and shoulders.

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ANY VIBRATION-RE

-

LATED INJURY:

ƒ

First  be  examined  by  a  doctor  and  then  have

regular  medical  check-ups  to  ensure  medical

problems are not being caused or worsened

from use. Pregnant women or people who

have impaired blood circulation to the hand,

past hand injuries, nervous system disorders,

diabetes,  or  Raynaud’s  Disease  should  not  use

this tool. If you feel any symptoms related to

vibration (such as tingling, numbness, and white

or blue fingers), seek medical advice as soon as

possible.

ƒ

Use tools with the lowest vibration when there

is a choice.

ƒ

Take  vibration-free  breaks  during  each  day  of

work.

ƒ

Grip tool as lightly as possible (while still keep-

ing safe control of it). Let the tool do the work.

CONNECTION TO THE POWER SUPPLY

Make sure the power supply information on the

machine’s rating plate are compatible with the

power supply you intend to connect it to.

This appliance is Class II and is designed for

connection to a power supply matching that

detailed on the rating label and compatible with

the plug fitted. If an extension lead is required,

use an approved and compatible lead rated for

this  appliance.  Follow  all  the  instruction  sup-

plied with the extension lead.

GUIDELINES FOR USING EXTENSION CORDS

f

Make sure your extension cord is in good condi-
