Peripheral Setup
This section describes the function of peripheral features.
OnChip Primary IDE Channel 1
This field specifies the IDE channel that can be applied when using IDE hard disk
connector.
Available Options: Disabled, Enable
Default setting: Enable
Master /Slave Drive PIO mode
IDE hard drive controllers can support up to two separate hard drives. These drives
have a master/slave relationship, which is determined by the cabling configuration
used to attach them to the controller.
PIO means Programmed Input/Output. Rather than have the BIOS issue a series of
commands to affect a transfer to or from the disk drive, PIO allows the BIOS to tell
the controller what it wants and then let the controller and the CPU perform the
complete task by them. This is simpler and more efficient (and faster). Your system
supports five modes, numbered from 0 to 4, which primarily differ in timing. When
Auto is selected, the BIOS will select the best available mode.
IDE Primary Master/Slave UDMA
Ultra DMA/33 implementation is possible only if your IDE hard drive supports it and the
operating environment includes a DMA driver (Windows 95 OSR2 or a third-party
IDE bus master driver). If you hard drive and your system software both support Ultra
DMA/33, select Auto to enable This option allows your hard disk controller to use the
fast block mode to transfer data to and from your hard disk drive (HDD).
