DT.4440V2 Injection Pump Locking Pin
Remove injection pump damper and insert DT.4440V2 Pin through injection pump sprocket.
WARNING:
Do NOT release centre nut of the injection pump sprocket as the basic pump setting
will be affected. This cannot be reset within the workshop.
DT.4593E1 Tensioner Retaining Pin
Turn timing belt tensioner so that the plunger is depressed and insert Pin DT.4593E1 to ‘lock’ in place
so belt can be removed.
Section 4:
VAG PETROL ENGINES
Twin Cams – 1.4 & 1.6 16v.
Refer to Application Chart for model usage
These engines have a main drive belt (crankshaft to inlet camshaft),
and a separate exhaust camshaft drive belt (from inlet to exhaust camshaft).
DT.4635 Camshaft Setting Tool
Dependent upon engine type (see above diagram), DT.4635 Setting Tool is used either as an assembly
of the two pins and a bridge piece or as the two pins only (without the bridge).
Check that the camshaft sprocket setting holes are in correct position to accept the tool or pins.
(see above diagram).
Ensure that DT.4635 Setting Tool is installed correctly – insert the pins fully into the sprocket locking
holes and then slide the bridge piece down to rest on the sprockets. When correctly installed
the two balls on the ends of the pins should be parallel.
Tensioner Tools
DT.4440T1 and DT.4593E1
DT.4440T1
Retainer and
DT.4593E1
Pin are used to compress and ‘lock’ the timing belt tensioner on
V W 1.8 petrol engines.
DT.4440T1
is fitted and applies pressure to the plunger to release tension off the belt.
DT.4593E1
Pin is then inserted to ‘lock’ the plunger in the retracted position.
