16. Place the bent section of the seal in the groove on
the piston as shown.
17. Install seal by using a blunt tool with no sharp
corners or edges, such as the shank portion of an
O-ring installation tool.
18. Stretch the seal over the outside diameter of the
piston until it is in the groove.
Note: Overstretching will break the seal.
19. The piston seal will be stretched out of shape when
installed in the groove. Place the piston with the seal
installed on a clean, flat surface and roll it back and
forth to reshape the seal.
20. Use a sizing tube fixture to compress and form the
seal back to the original shape. The dimensions for
this fixture are as shown. The tapered surface must
be smooth—approximately a 16 micro finish.

21. Lubricate the tapered fixture end with oil or grease.
