Work Area Safety

Electrical Safety

Jump Starter Safety Warnings
1.
Lead-
acid baeries generate hydrogen gas
when charging. Hydrogen gas is explosive. Only
use the Jump-Start system in a well-
venlated area.

Connect and disconnect baery cable clamps only a'er Jump Starter is OFF

nect cables to proper polaries. Connect black cable to negave body ground and red cable
to posive baery terminal.

DO NOT OPEN HOUSING
. Contains no user-serviceable parts. Internal parts may be electri-
fied, even with unit off.
9.
Do not use if the Jump Starter is device is swollen or damaged.
10.
Do not use the Jump Starter to power sensive devices
such as medical devices. Do not
use in ignion protected areas.
11.
Some rechargeable tools and appliances can damage the Jump Starter.
Check the temper-
ature of the device several
mes when it is charging. If the device becomes extremely hot;
turn the power off, remove the device, and do not use with the Jump Starter again.

Do not aempt to power a device, or combinaon of devices, that will require more than
the rated output of this Jump Starter
. This may damage the Jump Starter or the aached
devices..
13.
Do not expose Jump Starter to temperatures over +113°F (+45°C) or under -14°F (-26°C)
as
this could decrease the performance of your baery. Temperatures over +140°F (60°C)
could create a safety hazard.
Checking Charge and Charging the Power Pack
1.
Indicator Lights
The Jump Starter has 5 indicator lights to determine the amount of power in the unit
(see fig A-4). When all five lights are lit the unit is fully charged.
Press the on/off switch (fig A-
5) to acvate the lights.
The indicator lights will flash one by one when the unit is charging. A solid light indi-
cates a complete level of charge. For example, when 2 lights are illuminated and a
third is blinking, that means the unit is around 50% charged.
When all the indicator lights are lit, the charging is complete and the unit will auto-
macally turn off

Charge the Jump Starter
a.
charge with the wall plug. Plug the 120VAC Adapter (fig. F) into a wall outlet.

b. charge with the car adaptor in your vehicle. Plug the Car Adaptor (fig. D-1) into a
12V dc cigaree lighter socket.
The unit will charge in approximately 4hours.
Use
A) Jump Starng a Vehicle
Note: Read the vehicle owner’s manual pertaining to jump starng prior to using the Jump Start-
er.
1.
Press the on/off Buon (fig A
-5) to verify that the Jump Starter is fully charged. Do not pro-
ceed if the power is less than 40% (at least 3 lights must be on). Recharge if needed.
2.
Turn off the vehicle ignion switch and all accessories (lights, radio, climate control, etc.).
3.
Check that the vehicle’s baery terminals are clean to ensure the best conducvity.
4.
When using the clamps, DO NOT allow the metal teeth of the clamps to touch one another.
This is a short circuit which could cause a spark and all electrical components..
5.
DO NOT connect the RED clamp to the vehicle baery’s negave (
-) terminal, or the BLACK
clamp to the vehicle baery’s posive (+) terminal. This will cause a reversal of polarity,
and could damage all electrical components.
6.
Do not aach clamps to the Jump Starter yet First, securely aach the black clamp to the
vehicle’s negave (
-
) baery terminal, then the red clamp to the vehicle’s posive (+)
baery terminal.
7.
Check the Jump Starter is OFF (no lights).
8.
Securely fasten the clamps into the Jump Starter (fig G) and put the Jump Starter is a secure
place so it will not fall when starng the vehicle
9.
Power ON your Jump Starter (figure A-5).
10.
Start your vehicle. If a@er 3 seconds engine does not start, turn key to OFF posion and
detach the Jump Starter from the clamps. Wait 60 seconds and then follow steps 7-10. If
problems sll persist, please see the Troubleshoong secon
11.
A@er the vehicle is started, remove the clamps from the Jump Starter, then remove the
black Negave Baery Cable first, and then the red Posive Baery Cable.
12. You are now able to drive your vehicle. You should be sure to run your vehicle for at least 15
minutes before shuAng it off again.
B) Charging Phone, Tablet or other USB devices
With your FamilyTool Jump Starter you can recharge all your USB devices very easily

Select the right cable adapter (fig C)

Insert the USB cable in the 5V/2.1 A USB output port (fig A-6)

Insert the other side of the cable into the input port of your device

C) Charging Laptopor similar devices
1.
Select the laptop adapter (fig E)
2.
Connect the adapter to the laptop charging cable (fig D-2)
3.
Insert the laptop charging cable in the 19V/3.5 A output port (fig A-3) or to the 12V/2A
output port (fig A-
7) based on your device power absorpon.
4.
Insert the other side of the cable into the input port of your laptop
5.
Press the Jump Starter Power buon (fig A
-5)
D) LED flash light
1.
Press the Power buon (fig A
-5) for 3 seconds to start the LED flashlight. By pushing the
Power buon (fig A
-5) you can cycle between the 3 modes available (normal, strobe and
SOS)
Maintenance
The FamilyTool Jump Starter can be fully charged and discharged up to 1000 mes under ideal
condions. For proper storage and maintenance:
• Do not store unit in extreme temperatures.
• Do not store unit for long periods of me with less than 3 indicator lights showing charge.
