8420G Models
Check the oil level using the plug on the lid (Item
1) [Figure 27].
The correct level is even with the bottom of the
plug.
Add SAE 80W-90 gear oil if the oil level is low.
Check oil level every 50 hours.
Chains And Fasteners
Periodically check all bolts and fasteners for
tightness.

Check the main fan bolt (Item 1) [Figure 28] for
tightness.
Check the tension in the drive chain (Item 2) [Figure
28]. Slack on the lower side of the chain should be
3/8” to 1/2”.
Check the shear bolts on the PTO driveline.
74” / 84” models:
• 3/8” x 2-1/4” GR5
Shear bolts should be fastened with a lock nut or
two jam nuts. These bolts must be kept tight to
prevent wear of the bolt and bolt holes.
