o
If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine until the area has been cleaned
and the fuel vapours have dissipated.
Sparks caused by static electricity can cause fires or explosions. A fuel flow can generate
static electricity. To prevent static electricity sparks:
o
Do not fill containers in a vehicle or on a truck or skip with a plastic tarpaulin. Fill
the containers on the ground, away from the vehicle.
o
If necessary, remove the fuel powered machine from the truck or the trailer and fill
the tank on the ground. If the tank must be filled on the truck or the trailer, use a
portable fuel container rather than a fuel pump nozzle.
o
Keep the fuel pump nozzle in contact with the edge of the fuel tank opening or the
fuel container until they are filled. Do not use a fuel nozzle open lock system.
o
Carefully replace the fuel tank cap and the fuel container cap.
Stop the engine:
Every time you leave the machine.
Before filling the fuel tank.
Storage
If there is any fuel left in the tank, never store the machine in a building in which the vapours
could come into contact with a naked flame or a spark.
Let the engine cool before storing the machine inside any premises.
If the fuel tank needs to be emptied, do it outdoors.
