PosiDRIVE Security Gate
Maintenance and Repair Overview
To keep the gate functioning properly, perform monthly and semi-annual preventive
maintenance, such as checking the mechanical components and greasing bearings.
If the gate does not function properly, refer to the troubleshooting table provided in this
chapter (Table 3-8) for help diagnosing and repairing the issue.
Many gate adjustment and repair tasks call for advancing the gate arm to the fully up or
fully down position and locking the drive mechanism into place. If this done via a raise/
lower switch, the drive mechanism automatically locks into the place; however, some
tasks require moving the gate arm manually, in which case you must lock the drive
mechanism by hand.
This chapter explains how to perform the following maintenance and repair tasks:

■

■
“Locking, Unlocking, and Advancing the Gate Arm” on page 49

Performing Preventive Maintenance
To keep the gate functioning properly, perform the following preventive maintenance tasks:
■
Monthly:
◆
Inspect all warning labels to ensure that all are clear and readable.
◆
Inspect the gate enclosure for damage to ensure structural integrity of gate
enclosure.
◆
Check mainspring tension to ensure that the gate is still properly balanced.
■
Semi-annually:
◆
Check tightness on all fasteners on the drive system and gate arm, and check the
gate mounting bolts to ensure the integrity of the drive mechanism.
◆
Grease mainshaft bearings to maintain bearing capacity and prevent internal
corrosion. See “Grease Mainshaft Bearings” on page 47.
◆
Grease connecting rod bearings to maintain bearing capacity and prevent
internal corrosion. See “Grease the Connection Rod Bearings” on page 47.
Moving parts can cause bodily injury, and hazardous voltage can
shock, burn, or cause death. Turn off the power to the gate and
disconnect the backup battery before performing any maintenance or
repairs.
