Model 35-ITA Incubator Transporter

7.4  Safety Hook Installation

The safety hook (provided, Figure 18) secures the transporter inside

the ambulance during the loading and unloading process while the

operators extend or retract the legs.
A correctly-positioned safety hook allows the transporter to be loaded

into the ambulance and unloaded from the ambulance without

interference, but will catch the safety bars during every loading and

unloading sequence.
Refer to document 234-3782 for placement and installation of the

safety hook.

7.2  Placing Equipment on the Panel

The panels are designed to hold equipment required for use with a

transport incubator.  The slots in the panel allow restraint straps to be

attached to secure equipment.
Plan the placement of the equipment before using the transporter with

an infant.  Have your bio-med technician (or the controlling EMS) direct

the placement and securing of the equipment on the panels.
Confirm that equipment placed on the panels

●

Is secured to the panel.

●

Does not interfere with transporter operation.

●

Does not unbalance the transporter.

7 - SETUP

7.1  Ambulance Information

The transporter is for use with ambulances that meet the Type II

requirements of the Federal Ambulance Specification KKK-A-1822.
The patient compartment must have:

●

a smooth edge on the floor at the rear door

●

a level floor large enough for the folded transporter

●

space to install the safety hook (below)

●

a compatible Ferno fastening system installed (not supplied)

If necessary, modify the ambulance to fit the transporter.  Do not modify

the transporter or its operating procedures.

NOTICE

Loose items and debris on the patient compartment floor

can interfere with the operation of the transporter with the

fastening system. Keep the patient compartment floor clear.

WARNING

Attaching improper items to the transporter can cause

injury. Use only Ferno-approved items on the transporter.
Equipment improperly placed on the panels can cause

injury. Consult a bio-med technician, the controlling EMS,

or Ferno for direction on equipment placement.
Failure to use the safety hook can cause injury.  Install and

use the safety hook as described in this manual.
Improper installation can cause injury. Install the safety

hook so the safety bar catches the hook during every

loading and unloading sequence.
Modifying the transporter can cause injury and damage.

Use the transporter only as designed by Ferno.

7.3 Accessories

Have your service technician or EMSAR

®

 attach any accessories shipped

with the transporter. Follow the instructions included in the accessory

packages.  Save the instructions with this manual for future reference.
