DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE
Driving styles
Do not warm up the engine when the
vehicle is stationary, either with the
engine idling or running at a high speed:
in these conditions, the engine warms
up much more slowly and increases fuel
consumption and emissions. Set off
immediately after starting the engine and
drive slowly, avoiding high engine RPM
until the temperature stabilises.
Avoid depressing the accelerator
repeatedly when stopped at traffic
lights or before turning off the engine.
This manoeuvre, and likewise “double-
clutching”, are absolutely useless with
current vehicles. These actions increase
fuel consumption and pollution.
As soon as traffic conditions and the
route permit it, use a higher gear.
Accelerating suddenly, and therefore
increasing the engine RPM dramatically,
is particularly detrimental in terms of
emissions. Accelerate gradually and do
not exceed the maximum engine torque
rate.
Particular driving conditions
Very short trips and frequent cold starts
do not allow the engine to reach the
optimal operating temperature and can
cause a significant increase in noxious
emissions.
Intense traffic conditions involving the
use of lower gears, or driving in urban
areas with numerous traffic lights
can increase the emission of noxious
substances in the environment.
During prolonged stops (e.g. at level
crossings) it is recommended that you
turn the engine off.
Anti-pollution device maintenance
The correct operation of the anti-
pollution devices not only ensures respect
for the environment, but also affects
vehicle performance. Therefore, keeping
these devices in good working conditions
is the first rule for driving ecologically
sound.
The first precaution is to follow
the “MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE”
scrupulously.
If starting is difficult, do not make several
attempts. Push starts, towing the vehicle
or using downhill slopes to start are all
manoeuvres which could damage the
catalytic converters.
Use only a battery charger and contact

If the engine does not work properly
while travelling, continue driving,
reducing engine performance to the
bare minimum, and contact the nearest
Centre of the
Ferrari Service Network
.
A low fuel level could lead to an irregular
supply to the engine and inevitably
increase the exhaust gas temperatures.
This could cause serious damage to the
catalytic converters.
