Terms
Off-load voltage
The off-load voltage is the voltage of the battery in idle condition, i.e. no current
is consumed and the battery is not being charged.
Closed circuit current
Some electrical appliances, such as the clock and the indicator lamps, require
continuous electric current, for this reason they are referred to as inactive
appliances. This closed circuit current flows even if the device has been
switched off.
X
Only allow qualified personnel to work on the electrical system.
X
All electronic devices (e.g. mobile telephones, radios, televisions or
DVD players) which have been retrofitted to the vehicle and are
operated during the journey must have certain features: These are the
CE certification, the EMC inspection (electromagnetic compatibility) and
the "e"-inspection.
Only in this way can the functional reliability of the vehicle be ensured.
Otherwise the airbag may be triggered or interference to the on-board
electronics may result.
Z
During a storm, to protect the electrical devices disconnect the 240 V con-
nection and retract the antennae.
Z
The battery must remain idle for a while before measuring. After charging
the last time, or after the last current has been drained by consumers, wait
approximately 2 hours before measuring the idle voltage.
