UPDATING THE GEOSNAP BASIC FIRMWARE
FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Insert the microSD card into your computer.
2.
Save a copy of the Config File Snapshot from a previous mission. The GeoSnap will overwrite and generate
a default config file during the firmware update process.
3.
Erase all files from the microSD card (making sure you have backed up any files you need to keep).
4.
Download the firmware file (gsnp_X_X_X.fvx) to your computer.
5.
Copy the .fvx file and paste it to the microSD card
’s root
directory.
6.
Safely eject the microSD card from your computer (to ensure file integrity).
7.
Insert the microSD card into the GeoSnap and power on the system.
8.
Wait until the firmware loading process is complete (the white, green, and red LEDs will be rapidly
blinking throughout the firmware update process). Firmware loading is complete when the blue and white
LEDs start flashing with a beep indicating it has detected a default config file.
9.
Unplug power from the GeoSnap.
10.
Remove the microSD card and insert into your computer.
11.
Open the update
_note.txt file and check for the firmware update success message (i.e. “Firmware
successfully updated to version X.X.X”)

12.
Delete the update
_note.txt file from the microSD card’s root directory

13.
Edit the Config file to fit your mission. This is where it may be useful to reference the previous Config File
Snapshot you saved before the firmware update.
14.
Safely eject the microSD card and replace in the GeoSnap Basic.
