3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

ATTENTION!
For safety reasons, the hedge trimmer may not be operated by persons under 16 years of age and
by persons not familiarized with information contained in this manual. Persons with reduced mental or physical
abilities may operate the hedge trimmer only if they are under supervision of a responsible person or have been
trained by a qualifi ed responsible person.
Attention!
In case of improper use, this power tool may be dangerous. Follow warning and safety instructions specifi ed
in the instruction manual; only this way you will ensure adequate safety and effi ciency when working with this
tool. The compliance with the warning and safety instructions specifi ed in this instruction manual and on the
tool is the responsibility of the tool operator. Never use the tool unless the protective guards mounted by the tool
manufacturer are in the correct position.

The term “power tool” in all warning instructions specifi ed hereafter means both mains-operated
(corded) and battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
WORK AREA SAFETY
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas at the workplace invite accidents. Do not operate
power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of fl ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power
tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control
over the activity performed.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Power tool plugs must match the mains outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodifi ed plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of
electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to
rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric
shock.
