The warm humid therapy
A therapy today widely used in medicine is the warm humid
application. The blood vessels react to humid heat by expanding
and this increases the flow of blood in the treatment area. Back
pains caused by a pulled muscle can lead to spasms; in these
cases, warm humid treatment can prove very effective. Rest
together with the use of the heating pad gradually relax the
contracted muscle and restore flexibility, alleviating pain. Other
common ailments in which the heat pad is effective are arthritis
and rheumatism. To obtain the best results during heat pad use,
treatment should not last more than 40 minutes.
Prolonged treatment can have negative effects. In case of
strange symptoms, interrupt use and immediately see a
doctor.
