Chilled Water 3-Way Valve Actuator
Replacement
As shown in
Figure 14
the chilled water valve is a 3 way
mixing valve with the same type Belimo actuator as used
on the hot water valve . When replacing the actuator be
sure to disconnect power to the unit .
Remove the control wiring noting the placement and
color of each conductor .
Orient the new actuator as shown in
Figure 14
. The
actuator shown is in the full bypass mode, (no primary
loop water entering) and the position brought about by a
signal of 0 volts . This reorientation can be accomplished
by removing the center screw and pulling out the black
knob and reinserting it as shown . For the cold water
valve the knob should rotate from the position (
See Figure
14
) 90º clockwise . If the actuator does not rotate in this
manner the actuator is misaligned . With the actuator
removed from the valve . Push in on the knob, rotate it
as far as it will go in the clockwise direction . Remove
the black knob and re-insert it as shown in
Figure 14
.
Reinstall it onto the valve body being sure that the valve
core is oriented as shown in
Figure 15
.
Figure 15
shows the chilled water valve with the actuator
removed . Note the orientation of the notches in the center
post are at 9:00, 12:00, and 3:00 o’clock . This orientation
is required for the valve and actuator to operate properly .
Install knob screw . Re-attach the wiring per schematic .
Hot and/or Cold Valve Replacement
In the unlikely event that the valve body needs
replacement it is suggested that the unit be drained
and removed to facilitate the disassembly of the unit .
Once the new valve is installed the essential step is
again correct orientation of the valve stem with the
correct orientation of the actuator as shown in
Figures
13 and 15
.
