ENVIRONMENT/VISUAL
The Environment/Visual page is accessed by selecting the ENVIRON/VISUAL Master Collar button or
through the Master Index by selecting the ENVIRONMENT/VISUAL page button. See Figure 3-39. The
Environment/Visual page provides the instructor with a tool to display, evaluate, and control special visual
effects, the airport environment, and weather related conditions and special effects of a selected airport.
The left half of the page contains controls to alter the visual scene and the right half of the page contains
controls to insert weather effects. These controls include direct entry buttons, overlay buttons, and page
buttons. The direct entry buttons include Visual, Visual Auto Reference, Glass Mountain, Ambient
Lighting, Ocean Terrain, visual selections for Dawn, Day, Dusk, and Night, All Lights Max, and Standard
Day (located on the right side of the page).
Visual
The Visual button allows the instructor to toggle the visual projectors on if they have timed
out.
Visual Auto Reference
The Visual Auto Reference button enables or disables the automatic
loading of the closest visual scene.
Glass Mountain
The Glass Mountain buttons provide the means for the instructor to introduce an
obstacle at a predetermined distance from the aircraft for avoidance training. There are three buttons
available to enter different glass mountain modes. They are Glass Mountain, Mode 2a Glass
Mountain, and Mode 2b Glass Mountain, select the desired mode.
Ambient Lighting
The Ambient Lighting button turns on and off the ambient lighting in the
simulator.
