3.40.1.
Using the Lesson Plan Page
1) Choose the desired Lesson number button under the desired training mode. The Lesson
Plan page will appear. See Figure 3-53.
2) Select the START LESSON button. The START LESSON button changes to STOP
LESSON, the Lesson Time timer starts, and an illuminated timer bar appears above the time
indicators at the bottom of the graph.
3) Select the Initialize Performance & Weather Lesson Setup button to initialize the simulator.
4) As the lesson progresses, the instructor compares the timer bar with the lesson graph and
must select additional Lesson Setup and Malfunction Setup buttons as appropriate for the
lesson. These buttons appear at specific intervals on the lesson graph.
Lesson Setup buttons - The Lesson Setup buttons consist of direct entry buttons, overlay
buttons, and page buttons. The direct entry buttons are used to implement preset conditions
in the lesson.
The overlay buttons allow the instructor to insert special environmental conditions in which
the student can train. These include cross winds (using the Wind Set overlay) and icing
(using the Icing Parameters overlay).
The page buttons allow the instructor to insert other types of training into the lesson such as
traffic avoidance (TCAS Events), windshears, and RTO training.
Malfunction Setup buttons - Selecting a Malfunction Setup button displays an overlay
consisting of malfunctions that can be inserted at the appropriate point in the lesson. The
instructor can select one or all of the malfunctions that appear on the overlay. A Malfunction
Clear button is on the overlay so the instructor can clear the malfunction at the appropriate
point in the lesson.
5) To pause the lesson, select the STOP LESSON button. The STOP LESSON button
changes to START LESSON. Touching the START LESSON button restarts the lesson at the
point at which it was stopped. START LESSON does not reset the setup conditions.
6) To end the lesson select the END LESSON button. Selecting the END LESSON button
clears all malfunctions and performs a Master Reset which resets the simulator to initial
conditions to prepare it for the next lesson.
