Prepare Cockpit Controls
The pilot will perform customary aircraft battery power up at the cockpit controls.
The instructor will start aircraft engines at the Instructor Station. Select the FREEZES/RESETS button
on the collar or the AIRCRAFT STATUS button on the collar. Select the ENGINE QUICK START
button. The aircraft engines will start.
The pilot should adjust cockpit controls to takeoff settings.
4.4.3.
Tower Communications
The flight crew must tune the cockpit communications and navigation devices to the proper settings. For
information about communicating with the flight crew, refer to the Instructor Operations Manual. See
paragraph 3.5.1. COMMUNICATIONS in Section 3 of the Operation portion of this manual.
4.4.4.
Beginning Flight
The instructor can initiate aircraft movement on the runway from the Instructor Station by deselecting
the FLIGHT FREEZE button. The pilot must control the aircraft during takeoff to become airborne.
To view the takeoff, select the RUNWAY PLOT button or the T/O PLOT button on the Master Index
page or the Map Collar. Refer to the RUNWAY PLOT paragraph or the TAKEOFF PLOT paragraph in
Section 3 of the Touchscreen portion of this manual for additional information.
4.4.5.
In-flight Mapping
During the flight, the instructor can monitor flight on the upper touch screen using the Area Map page,
while using the lower touch screens to trigger malfunctions or to modify weather, aircraft, and airport
conditions.
To view flight conditions, at the upper touch screen, select the STATUS overlay button on the map collar.
The items appearing on this screen update dynamically. Refer to the STATUS paragraph for more
information.
While the aircraft is in flight, a white tracking line is drawn on the AREA MAP indicating aircraft
movement. To make changes to the Area Map display, select the desired mapping control function on
the right side of the Area Map page. Refer to the AREA MAP paragraph for more information.
