SECTION 4: INSTRUCTOR STATION TUTORIAL
4.1.
INTRODUCTION
The tutorial is intended to offer operational guidelines to users who are unfamiliar with the FlightSafety
IOS Instructor Station. It requires a pilot who is experienced with the aircraft. The instructor should read
Section 2 of the Instructor Operations Manual and be familiar with the Control Panels on the IOS. This
tutorial is performed without engaging the Motion System.
In the tutorial, the instructor performs a preflight inspection; sets up the session; runs simulation, which
includes initiating takeoff, monitoring the flight, inserting aircraft, airport, and weather changes, performing
an in-flight reposition, and preparing for landing; then ends the session.
4.2.
PREFLIGHT INSPECTION
These Initial Conditions should be met before powering up after any type of power down.
1) The Walk Around Inspection is complete and the simulator is ready for training. Refer to
paragraph 2.10. for the Walk Around Inspection procedures.
2) The computer systems are powered on and ready for the instructor to set up a training
session.
3) The hydraulic system is operational and ready for training.
4) One of the lower touch screens is displaying the Master Index page and the upper touch
screen is displaying the Area Map.
Although a learning center technician performs this inspection, the instructor can ensure the safety of the
flight crew by performing the Preflight Inspection and verifying with the technician that the simulator is
safe to operate.
