SECTION 1: INSTRUCTOR STATION OVERVIEW
1.1.
INTRODUCTION
The Touch Screen Reference Manual introduces and teaches the methods to access, operate, and control
simulation using the FlightSafety Instructor Operating Station (IOS). This Touchscreen Reference Manual
is an appendix to the IOS Instructor Operation Manual.
1.2.
HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT
The Touch Screen Reference Manual is divided into four sections. Section 1 contains a basic Instructor
Station overview and basic simulator safety information. Section 2 describes fundamental IOS operating
techniques. Section 3 contains detailed information about the function and use of each touch screen display.
Section 3 is arranged alphabetically to allow greater ease in locating the desired information. Section 4
contains a tutorial which can be used by instructors who are unfamiliar with the FlightSafety touch screen
system. It walks a user through the basic steps to set up, run, and end a simple training session.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Figure 1-1 illustrates the Instructor Station layout. It is important that each instructor and all personnel
using the simulator be familiar with its controls. For information concerning the location and use of the
control panels, indicators, seats, printer, and other hardware components, consult the IOS Instructor
Operation Manual. Before using the touch screens or starting a training session, read Section 1 and Section
2 of this manual. Simulator hazards and emergency procedures are discussed in Section 4 of the IOS
Instructor Operation Manual.
