Connecting the gas container
In order to use this grill, you will need a commercially-available
5 kg propane or butane gas container.
Note: The gas container and gas tube have left-handed thread-
ing! If necessary, replace the hose if this is required by
national regulations.
Danger Risk of fire/explosion/poisoning!
Leaking gas may form a highly explosive air/gas mix-
ture that could cause a fire or explosion and could
result in life-threatening injuries or death.
– Never connect the gas supply to the gas grill without a pres-
sure regulator that corresponds to the country-specific pres-
sure. Only use an approved pressure regulator with fixed
settings and with 50 mbar outlet pressure and max. 1.5 kg/h
throughput.
– Only use a hose connection between the device and the gas
container, which does not exceed the recommended length
of 1.5 m.
– Make sure that the gas hose has been firmly mounted and
that the hose connection is always accessible along its entire
length.
1. Turn the temperature controls
(26)
and
(27)
to the position =
Off (see
Fig. 21
).
2. Make sure that the gas container valve is closed.
3. Screw the safety cap off of the container valve threading.
4. Check for the presence and proper condition of the con-
tainer valve threading gasket. Do not use any other gaskets!
5. Screw the union nut of the pressure regulator
(19)
onto the
container valve threading by turning it counterclockwise
(left-hand thread) and tighten it by hand. Do not use any
tools as this could damage the container valve gasket so
that it is no longer gas tight.
6. Place the gas container in the container holder
(2)
. See
Fig. 19
.
Attention!
The gas container
must
be placed in the con-
tainer holder. Never place it on the other side of the base
plate. Do not store a second gas container in the cabinet.
7. Lay the gas hose so that it does not kink or twist.
8. Check all connections for gas leaks (see section “Checking
for gas leaks”).
Checking for gas leaks
1. Turn the temperature controls
(26)
and
(27)
to the position =
Off (see
Fig. 21
).
2. Open the container valve.
3. Apply soap water to all screwed connections and the gas
hose. If bubbles form, then a connection is loose or the gas
hose is cracked and may no longer be used. Do not use the
grill. Instead immediately close the gas container valve.
4. Check the screwed connections and if necessary, tighten
the nuts. Then repeat the check.
5. If there is still a gas leak, do not in any case use the grill.
Instead contact our customer service team. Please see the
section “Distributor” for the contact data.
6. Close the container valve when you are not using the grill.
Turning on/lighting
Danger of Explosion!
First read the following instructions on turning on/
lighting the grill and all warning and safety notes be-
fore you light the grill.
– Check the grill for cracks, puncturing or other damage before
you use it.
– Stop using the grill if the gas hose is damaged or porous.
– Open the lid of the grill before lighting the burner. Otherwise
this may result in explosive ignition that may result in several
physical injury or death.
– Never bend over the device when turning it on.
Ignition system – Igniting with a Piezo lighter
1. Open the lid.
2. Turn the temperature controls
(26)
and
(27)
to the position =
Off (see
Fig. 21
).
3. Open the gas container valve.
Do not bend over the grilling area.
4. Push and hold the central temperature control
(27)
on the
grill and turn it counterclockwise towards the large flame
(Max).
5. Push the temperature control with the Piezo lighter
(27)
several times.
It will click in the process.
Important!
If the burner does not light, push the temperature control
(27)
and turn it all the way open
(Off)
. Also close the gas
container valve. Wait 5 minutes and repeat the process or light
the burner with conventional means (see “Conventional lighting
with matches”, below).
6. Once the burner is lit, turn one or both temperature controls
(26)
towards the large flame
(max) if applicable.
The second burner will light automatically.
Conventional lighting with matches
Danger Burn Hazard!
When using matches, always light the grill from be-
low,
never
from above
.
1. Turn the temperature controls
(26)
and
(27)
to the position =
Off (see
Fig. 21
).
2. Open the lid.
3. Open the gas container valve.
Do not bend over the grilling area.
4. Push and hold the left temperature control
(26)
on the grill
and turn it towards the large flame
(Max).
5. Insert a lit conventional extra long fireplace match through
the hole under the left rack
(13)
in the vicinity of the burner.
6. To light the next burner, push and hold the corresponding
temperature control
(27)
or
(26)
, and in the process, turn it
towards the large flame
(Max).
