3.1 Functional Description of SIHI
dry
M- Model
The SIHIdry system is a dry running vacuum pump. This
two-shaft positive displacement pump with a contact-
less pair of lead screws (C) must be operated vertically.
Synchronization of lead screws is ensured with the help
of a pair of electrical motors (F) so that neither the
synchronization gears (I) nor the spindles (C) come in
contact. In case of electronic errors, e.g., power failure,
the dry running pair of gearwheels carries out
synchronization and thus coming into contact of
spindles is ruled out and the pump comes to a standstill
in a controlled manner. A separate motor and an angle
sensor system (H) are provided for `every shaft. Motors
being an integral component of the pump, abrasive
shaft seals are not required and the pump is outwardly
air-tight. Lead screws (C) are rotated in reverse
directions without coming in contact with each other or
with the casing walls (D). Gas from the top inlet side (A)
is compressed to the lower discharge side (J). The
SIHIdry
system can compress the gas from the fine
vacuum range to the atmospheric pressure. Sealing
between spindles (C) and between the casing (D) takes
place through a narrow gap so that no fluid is required
for sealing or lubricating. Compressed gas in the
discharge compartment (B) does not come in contact
with the lubricant; fed gas is dry. Even the driving
compartment (G) with bearing (E), emergency
synchronization and motors (F) is free from oil as
conventional mechanical and oil-lubricated gearwheels
are not required here. The driving compartment (G) has
been secured with the help of a small gap for the
discharge side (J). Although dry running gearwheels
(I) are meshed, they do not come in contact with each
other due to electronic synchronization during
operations. They are only used for a small period of
time in case of errors.
