6 Storing the SIHIdry Vacuum Pump
6.1 Short Term Storage
The unit is protected against dust and humidity with plates, caps, or foil. Nevertheless, if the pump is
not installed immediately after delivery, it is to be stored in a dry and clean room, free from vibration.
6.2 Long Term Storage
For long term storage please contact Flowserve SIHI Pumps chapter.
6.3 Storage Condition
Store the packages under the following conditions:
•
Do not store outdoors.
•
Store at a dry and dust-free location.
•
Protect from humidity.
•
Do not expose to corrosive mediums.
•
Protect from solar radiation.
•
Avoid mechanical shocks.
•
Storage temperature: -4°F to +104°F [0°C to +40°C].
•
Relative humidity
: 20 % – 90 %.
Note: If it‘s stored for more than 3 months, check the condition of all parts and the packing at regular
intervals. If required, ask the SIHI service technician to replenish or replace the conservation aids.
6.4 Preservation
The connections of the unit are preserved if there is no other agreement with plates, caps, or foil against
atmosphere. No preservation liquid is used or has to be drained. Therefore the unit should be stored
only in the short term as 6.1.
6.4.1 Recommended Preservation
In all cases, the unit should be stored in a dry room. For long storage periods, follow the recommendations
of the manufacturers. When choosing the preservation medium check the compatibility with the materials,
your process, and your environment. After storage, use only new gaskets.
