Figure 3-5 Trico Oiler
Fill the bearing housing via the housing vent, using the overflow plug to establish the correct level.
Release the thumb screw and remove the reservoir. Position the adjusting nut so that the rim of the
reservoir is 0.47 to 0.50 in. (11.9 to 12.7 mm) above the centerline of the side port.
Fill reservoir with recommended oil and install on oiler body. Remove, fill, and reinstall reservoir as
many times as required to fill the bearing housing up to the rim of the reservoir with no air bubbles in
the reservoir.
Remove reservoir and ensure that the oil level is 0.47 to 0.50 in. (11.9 to 12.7 mm) above the
centerline of the side port. Adjust adjusting nut as required and lock in place with lock nut.
3.3.4 INSPECTION
Inspect the oil level in the bearing housing at least once a day. Inspect the condition of the oil at least
weekly. Oil is always subject to gradual deterioration from use and contamination from dirt and
moisture which is the cause of premature bearing wear.
